Professor Fawzi Derrar heads the Pasteur Institute of Algeria. Before taking that role, he led for seventeen years the respiratory viruses laboratory and the National Influenza Reference Centre.
His work focuses on respiratory viruses, influenza and coronaviruses. Trained in biosafety, he also works to strengthen laboratory quality and the prevention of infectious diseases.
